Panda Update

It was the first Google update in SEO done in 2011. To avoid content spamming of content specific search engines this update degrade to low quality, skinny and copied content pages. Low quality and skinny content pages can't provide enough information to the user. Copying content cause copyright issue for the duplication in more than one sites.
To skip panda update the webmaster can improve certain features like,
  • content with not less than 1500 words
  • avoid grammar and spelling errors
  • good language level
  • declaration of the author

Penguin update

Introduced in 2012 to stop link spamming. Link spamming increase the rank of a low quality page. This update came into existence to prevent or punishing the webmaster while using this link spamming
This update catches, 
  • Link exchanges between different pages 
  • Link building from low quality websites 
  • Link farming 
  • Automatic link production
  • Link comment spamming
These pages are erased from search engines.

Hummingbird update

Occurred in 2013. Google started presenting as deep information and updated it to more interactive. 
Provides semantic search results, synonyms and related searches to users.  Small applications of artificial intelligence in algorithms done in this changed the way of action of search engines and searching like enquiry and gave results in an interactive way.

Updated in 2014. Related to local ranking.  Factors that should take care for local SEO promotion of a page focused on local audiences. Users who searched for business like restaurants, petrol pumps get results near to their location. 
Local promotions are done by, 
>submitting and verifying that business in Google my business. 
>if location promotion is needed, address and pin code should be provided on that page.

Done in 2015. Application of more artificial intelligence in algorithms in this update. Different searches for a single product are analysed by Google and provide appropriate results using artificial intelligence.

Mobilegeddon

Mobile friendly update of Google done on 21st April 2015. It provides importance for mobile friendly pages. Results should be readable without tapping or zooming on mobile.  Applicable only to smartphones. Increase user experience. Only affects ranking on smartphones. Applicable for all languages. Applicable only for individual pages not the complete website.

Bert Update

BERT is the short form of Bidirectional Encoder Representation from Transformer. It is launched in October 2019. This is a language processing system updation. Through this Google can understand the relation between two words in a search and provide appropriate results.

This algorithmic updation was on 16th April 2012. Domain registration companies provide service for parking or booking website domain that takes time to prepare that page. Parked domain does not carry any contents but links and advertisements. These pages are indexed in search results and this update avoids those indexing.

Exact Match Domain(EMD) Update

Updated in 2012. EMD is the domain name same as the search keyword and can direct users to that website domain. Through this update EMD Website loses the visibility and quality thereby removed from search results. Because, domains are not filled with contents, details and not maintained attractively.

Pirate update

It is for erasing pages having copied contents or multimedia files like photos and videos from a page without the permission of that concerned page. Then the owners of original pages can file complaints based on DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) against the  duplicate publishers through search console. Google analyses the complaint and erases that page from search results and sends notification to companies related to that page about copying. Then the companies can suspend the pages.
