On-Page Optimization
On-Page Optimization
Every single process we do for SEO on a page or site is called On Page or on site optimization. When a user searches for a keyword, Google crawls for suitable titles and then looks for meta description. And finalize the quality and check whether it is the page that the user searched for. Meta description is the brief description of content of that page.
Snippet (basic): it contains URL, SEO title and meta description that appear on the search result.
Favicon: it is the icon or logo of a website.
Snippet (advanced): it includes rating stars. We get click through ratings (CTR). Based on the no. Of impressions or clicks we get. Star rating creates an impression about the page.
On page optimisation includes,
SEO Title optimization :
- Add keywords in title for easy crawling.
- Do not enter misspellings for results.
- Do not use full small letters or capital letters on title modification.
- Avoid spelling mistakes
- Maximum no. Of characters should be 55-60.
- In the snippet the maximum title pixel width limitation is 512 pixel.
- If we use full capital letters, it exceeds pixel width. So, we can't add the main content and keyword to the title.
- The Title should be unique. It should not repeat in another site since it is title duplication.
- If the title exceeds with characters it will show error in the search console.
- Keyword cannibalism :
- It is the competition between two pages of the same site for ranking.
- This is due to the high degree of similarity in content or same keyword.
- This reduces each other's rank.
- Minimum no. Of characters a title is 3.
- If less than 3,it is called a short title.
- If less in the search console, it shows error.
- In case of absence of title, H1 title is shown. And if no H1 title, H2 title is shown.
Meta description optimisation :
- Pixel width limitation is 1024.
- Characters are limited to 155 - 160
- Character limitation for a blog post or article is 155.
- It should be unique. Same content should not repeat on another site. Because of duplication it shows errors.
- It should contain relevant data.
- Spelling mistakes should be avoided.
- It should not be too long or too short.
- If there is no meta description, Google add it from any directory page.
- It should be attractive by providing offers. This increases CTR since, without looking for rank they look for meta description.
Robot Meta tag:
<meta name="robots"content="index,follow"/>.
It is still working. It is for controlling our page in case of crawling and indexing by the search engine.
Using this we can make a page non crawlable so that it will not shown in the search results.
<meta name="robots"content="noindex,nofollow"/>.
Above all are the modifications in the header.
On page body section:
- H1 tag is the important one.
- It should be attractive. Shouldn't contain any grammatical error or spelling mistakes.
- Don't lengthen the H1. Limit it to 8 which is fine enough.
- If Google is confused while crawling due to the url, title or meta description, it will be saved in a folder named sandbox.
- If we expand H2, it will confuse Google. So add H2 slightly in the article.
Content optimization :
- Use simple sentences.
- Should not be lengthy
- Need to be easily readable.
- Google couldn't digest complicated or lengthy contents.
- Don't make content with more than 20 words.
- Focus on adding keywords on the initial portions of the content.
Anchor text optimization :
Terms with hyperlinks are called anchor text. It is the most visible part of the body section.
It improves ranking and makes it easily crawlable. Hyper tags are used for hyperlinks.
<ahref="https://www.google.com">google</a>
If we add an anchor tag it makes Google easily visible. If we focus more on the keywords on a hyperlink, it increases the rank of that hyperlink Web page.
Keyword density :
The rate of Keyword occurrence with content or its density shows the percentage of Keyword meant to the content. If the keyword occurs in the 1st or 2nd paragraph, then its keyword density is 4%.If our keyword is coming backwards or afterwards of a full stop or comma, it helps the keyword to focus more.
